As a nationally accredited early learning program and licensed child care center, we strive to provide an array of stimulating opportunities within our curriculum that meet the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) national standards of quality and allow for ALL students to be successful.

Our child-centered, play-based curriculum encourages children to ask questions, form connections, and pursue their interests. We value each child’s unique way of thinking and offer learning activities that best meet the needs of individual children. Multiculturalism and Diversity within our Curriculum: Our programs establish and maintain collaborative relationships with each child’s family and are sensitive to family composition, language, and culture. Teachers gain information about the ways families define their own race, religion, home language, culture, and family structure and use that information to adapt the curriculum and teaching methods to the families served. Children are provided with equal opportunities to discuss and participate in leadership roles, and in activities such as dramatic play where children may choose to participate in non-stereotypical roles. Language diversity is incorporated into the curriculum and the physical space of our classrooms. Materials and equipment used to implement the curriculum reflect the lives of the children and families as well as the diversity found in society. Visual images of adult roles, differing abilities, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds that counter stereotypical limitations are prevalent.

As part of our commitment to excellence and providing rewarding experiences to youth in our community, all COMO staff adhere to the ideals and principles of NAEYC’s Code of Conduct. These core values are fundamental to overall COMO philosophies.

Registering for Fall Preschool

Due to limited available spaces, all preschool schedules must be approved by the Education Director PRIOR to online registration. Online registrations submitted without approval will be invalid. If you would like to know what days and times are available, please contact Education Director Priscilla Rouquayrol at 860.535.2476 ext. 102 or via email at p.rouquayrol@thecomo.org. Spaces in preschool are on a first-come, first-served basis, with current families given priority, followed by families on the enrollment waitlist.

Please note, child care programs are a members-only opportunity. To enroll in child care, you must have an active COMO membership. Annual membership will automatically renew while participants are in the childcare program.
