Camp Weeks

Camp runs weekly, starting on June 24 and running until August 30. Note: Camp is closed on July 4, 2024.

Specialty camps include half-day STEAM, Pottery, and Athletic Camps that can be seamlessly incorporated into your child’s full-day camp week. With so many options to choose from, you can create a weekly schedule that's as unique as your camper! Campers who are also registered for Day Camp and/or another COMO Camp will be transported to and from camps by a COMO staff member.

  • Maker Camp

    Ages: 9-12 Hours: 12:30-4 p.m.
    Weeks Offered: Week 3 (July 8-12), Week 4 (July 15-19), Week 5 (July 22-26), Week 6 (July 29-August 2), & Week 7 (August 5-9)
    Pricing: Members $290, Nonmembers $320

    Takes place in the COMO Makerspace. Campers will learn how to design 3D models using CAD software, prepare files for 3D printing, and how to use a 3D printer. Campers will have access to makerspace equipment and materials, including a large format printer, 3D printers, a Glowforge laser cutter, sewing, fine arts, crafts, and hand tools.

  • Pottery Art Camp

    Ages: 7-12 Hours: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    Weeks Offered: Week 3 (July 8-12), Week 4 (July 15-19), & Week 5 (July 22-26)
    Pricing: Members $290, Nonmembers $320

    Campers will explore art through fun and educational projects varying in ceramics, drawing, and sculpture. Camp includes activities inside and outside the studio, including getting inspiration from nature and lots of creative thinking! There will be plenty of art to take home each day, pottery projects will be fired and can be picked up in the following weeks.

  • Botanical Art Camp

    Ages: 5-10 Hours: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    Weeks Offered: Week 1 (June 24-28)
    Pricing: Members $260, Nonmembers $290

    Campers will spend the morning exploring the outdoors and creating botanical illustrations. They will create and illustrate a field guide of the Stonington Children's Garden, listen to some beautiful stories of art and nature, and meet some puppets! Instructor: Olga Robbins

  • Making Miniatures: Tiny Art Camp

    Ages: 5-10 Hours: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    Weeks Offered: Week 8 (August 12-16)
    Pricing: Members $260, Nonmembers $290

    Campers will examine the world of miniature art and create tiny things: tiny pictures, tiny fairy houses, and tiny villages while crafting amazing stories and making memories and art with new friends. Instructor: Olga Robbins

  • Transportation Engineering using LEGO® Materials

    Break the sound barrier on a supersonic jet, deliver cargo by train, and explore a swamp in your airboat. Build and create different modes of transportation with tens of thousands of LEGO® pieces, all while learning about the engineering concepts that make vehicles and vessels work.

  • Animal Adventures with LEGO® Materials

    Calling all Pokémon trainers! With the Pokémon Championship approaching, join our enthusiastic Play-Well Instructors as we build and catch our favorite Pokémon, rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, take a ride on the S.S. Anne to uncover rare and mystic Pokémon, and battle to see who will hold the title of Pokémon Master. Come along on our journey to catch 'em all!!

    LEGO® Master, I choose you!! In the race to be crowned the Ultimate Pokémon Champion, we need your help! Learn to build your favorite Pokémon, level up by teaching them special moves, evolve them into more powerful versions, and come face to face with the current champion in an epic battle for the title. Learn from our Play-Well Pokémon Masters so you can make it to the top!

  • AI3 Basketball Skills Academy

    Ages: 7-13 Hours: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    Weeks Offered: Week 5 (July 22-26)

    The AI3 Basketball Skills Academy is a summer camp designated for boys and girls ages 7-13 that focuses on developing the fundamentals of basketball and leadership on and off the court. Former professional basketball player Anthony Ireland will lead the camp with COMO Athletic Director TJ Faeth, along with experienced staff that will provide elite instruction to each camper. Campers are separated into groups based on age and ability for small group instruction, daily games, and competitions.

  • Sports Camp

Ages: 6-12 Hours: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Weeks Offered: Week 4 (July 15-19), Week 6 (July 29-August 2), Week 7 (August 5-9), & Week 9 (August 19-23)

Takes place across the COMO campus! Campers will play a variety of sports, including soccer, tennis, flag football, floor hockey, basketball, pickleball, and games like star wars, dodgeball (different versions), COMOball, and Handball to name a few.


Tennis Mini-Camps (3 Days/Week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

Tennis mini-camps will introduce or expand upon the sport of tennis through age-appropriate drills and games that are designed to be fun and engaging for each child in the program. Rackets will be provided.

Instructional Tennis Lessons

Offered in four-week sessions April - July. Participants will be provided a racket and will use equipment designed for the specific age group to increase their chances of success.

Tips for Easy Camp Registration

  1. Select camp week and desired schedule.

  2. Fill out personal info (auto-save for future registrations).

  3. If you wish to register for multiple weeks, click the blue “Add More Programs” button.

  4. Make sure to double-check you’ve selected the correct weeks before hitting “Next”.

  5. On the final page select payment type and the click “Pay" button. There is a $50 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit for each week of camp. The remainder of the payment will be collected 14 days before the start of each week. Please see our full cancellation and refund policy at the bottom of this page. NOTE: Health forms & sunscreen forms are required for camp registration to be complete. If you do not complete your online registration, you will receive a “cart reminder” email 24 hours later with a link to complete.

Discounts

  • If you register for three or more full weeks of full-day (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) care for Camp COMO day camp, you are eligible for a 10% discount. (Does not apply to specialty camps). Please call the COMO office at 860-535-2476 to have the discount applied.

  • The COMO offers a 10% sibling discount, provided siblings are registered for the same schedule during the same camp weeks. The discount will automatically be applied if applicable during online registration.

Payment and Refund Policy: Camp COMO When registering for camp, only a non-refundable deposit of $50 is due at the time of registration. The remainder of the balance will be scheduled using the billing method you have chosen on file (credit card or EFT) 14 days before the start of the camp week. Camp payments are non-transferable and cannot be transferred to another week of camp. Additional payments (paying in full), are non-refundable and cannot be used as credit toward other weeks or programming. Schedule changes are filled as availability permits using the Summer Change of Schedule Form. Please see the following list for the dates of the last days to make schedule changes for each week of camp:

Program Cancellation & Refund Policy for Enrichment Camps including STEAM & Athletics: No refunds or credits will be issued for changes or cancellations within 7 days of the program start. Outside of 7 days, enrichment program fees are eligible to receive COMO credit less a 20% administrative fee. COMO credits will be shown on your online member account and expire a year after they are issued.  If the program has a wait list and the space can be filled immediately, a refund less a 20% administrative fee can be processed. If COMO cancels a program, refunds will be provided. Make-up dates may be provided at the instructors' discretion if a class is canceled.
